Assistance Program for Students with Permanent Disabilities

This provincially funded program is for students with permanent disabilities attending public and private post-secondary schools in B.C.

B.C. Access Grant

If you are a full-time student with a permanent disability, you may be eligible for a non-repayable grant.

B.C. Supplemental Bursary for Students with a Permanent Disability

This is a provincial bursary program designed to assist students with disabilities with exceptional educational costs (e.g., additional transportation costs, specialized clothing, etc), recognizing that on average, students with permanent disabilities incur higher costs to attend post-secondary studies in comparison to the general student population.

BC Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Program

This program provides a higher income assistance rate, supplementary assistance, and specialized employment supports to qualifying persons with disabilities.

Bus Pass

This program provides an annual pass for public transit systems to low-income seniors and persons with disabilities.

Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Disability Benefits

CPP provides a monthly taxable benefit to contributors who are disabled and to their dependent children.

Canada Pension Plan Disability Vocational Rehabilitation Program

The Canada Pension Plan Disability Vocational Rehabilitation Program offers vocational counselling, financial support for training, and job search services to recipients of Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Disability Benefits to help them return to work.

Disability tax credit (DTC)

The DTC is a non-refundable tax credit used to reduce income tax payable for eligible individuals.

Fuel Tax Refund

Persons with certain disabilities are eligible for a tax refund on the fuel used in their vehicles.

International Benefits

The International Benefits program may provide retirement, disability or survivor benefits to eligible individuals who have lived or worked in another country, or the surviving spouse, common-law partner or children of eligible individuals who have lived or worked in another country.

Learning Disability Assessment Bursary

This bursary was established to assist students with the up-front costs of the learning disabilities assessment.

Registered Disability Savings Plan

The Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) is a long-term savings plan to help Canadians with disabilities and their families save for the future. The Government of Canada assists by paying a matching Canada Disability Savings Grant. Individuals who open an RDSP may also be eligible to receive a Canada Disability Savings Bond.
