International Benefits

The International Benefits program may provide retirement, disability or survivor benefits to eligible individuals who have lived or worked in another country, or the surviving spouse, common-law partner or children of eligible individuals who have lived or worked in another country.

Home Care Program

This program provides home care services to prevent unnecessary, premature, or prolonged institutionalization.

Old Age Security (OAS)

This pension provides a monthly taxable benefit to persons 65 years of age and over.

Allowance for the Survivor

This program provides a monthly non-taxable benefit to low-income widows who are not yet eligible for the Old Age Security pension.

Senior Citizen Real Property Tax Deferral Program

This program provides an indefinite deferral of property taxes to eligible low-income seniors.

Seniors' Housing Program

This program provides self-contained apartment units to low- and moderate-income persons.

Seniors' Home Repair Program

The program provides assistance to low- and moderate-income seniors to make emergency repairs to one of the major components of the physical structure of the home (for example, the roof, furnace, windows and doors). This program is not meant for cosmetic repairs or renovations. The repairs must be essential to the structure of the building as well as to the senior's health and safety.

Long Term Care

This Web site provides information about long-term care, including details about the province's public nursing facilities and private nursing homes.

Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Retirement Pension

The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Retirement Pension provides a monthly taxable benefit to retired contributors.

Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)

This program provides a monthly non-taxable benefit to low-income Old Age Security recipients.

Allowance Program

Allowance is a monthly benefit for low-income seniors (aged 60-64) whose spouse or common-law partner is eligible for, or currently receiving, the Old Age Security (OAS) pension and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS).

• Apply up to 12 months before your 60th birthday.
• If you have already reached the age of 60, send your application as soon as possible.
