International Benefits

The International Benefits program may provide retirement, disability or survivor benefits to eligible individuals who have lived or worked in another country, or the surviving spouse, common-law partner or children of eligible individuals who have lived or worked in another country.

Retirement Pension under the Quebec Pension Plan

This pension is paid monthly to people who have made sufficient contributions to the plan and who are 60 years of age or older.

Additional Information

• Apply one to three months prior to retirement.

Old Age Security (OAS)

This pension provides a monthly taxable benefit to persons 65 years of age and over.

Allowance for the Survivor

This program provides a monthly non-taxable benefit to low-income widows who are not yet eligible for the Old Age Security pension.

Home Adaptations for Seniors' Independence

The program Home Adaptations for Seniors' Independence provides financial assistance for low-income seniors aged 65 or over to help them make minor adaptations to their homes or apartments.

The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Retirement Pension provides a monthly taxable benefit to retired contributors.

Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)

This program provides a monthly non-taxable benefit to low-income Old Age Security recipients.

Allowance Program

Allowance is a monthly benefit for low-income seniors (aged 60-64) whose spouse or common-law partner is eligible for, or currently receiving, the Old Age Security (OAS) pension and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS).

• Apply up to 12 months before your 60th birthday.
• If you have already reached the age of 60, send your application as soon as possible.
  

Survivors' benefits under the Québec Pension Plan

The Quebec Pension Plan has three types of benefits that are payable following the death of a plan contributor: a death benefit, a surviving spouse's pension, and an orphan's pension.

• If the death occurred outside Québec, proof of death is required.
