International Benefits

The International Benefits program may provide retirement, disability or survivor benefits to eligible individuals who have lived or worked in another country, or the surviving spouse, common-law partner or children of eligible individuals who have lived or worked in another country.

55 Plus Program

The 55 PLUS Program, a Manitoba Income Supplement, provides benefits to lower-income Manitobans who are 55 years of age and over, and whose incomes are within certain levels.

Additional Information

If you receive benefits from the federal Old Age Security program, you do not need to apply. Your eligibility is automatically determined by the level of benefits you receive from the Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance, or Allowance for the survivor.

Old Age Security (OAS)

This pension provides a monthly taxable benefit to persons 65 years of age and over.

Allowance for the Survivor

This program provides a monthly non-taxable benefit to low-income widows who are not yet eligible for the Old Age Security pension.

Manitoba Housing – Social Housing

This program provides affordable and subsidized housing for families, seniors and single people who are living on low or moderate incomes.

Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Retirement Pension

The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Retirement Pension provides a monthly taxable benefit to retired contributors.

Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)

This program provides a monthly non-taxable benefit to low-income Old Age Security recipients.

Allowance Program

Allowance is a monthly benefit for low-income seniors (aged 60-64) whose spouse or common-law partner is eligible for, or currently receiving, the Old Age Security (OAS) pension and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS).

Additional Information

• Apply up to 12 months before your 60th birthday.
• If you have already reached the age of 60, send your application as soon as possible.
  

RentAid

RentAid is a monthly benefit to help low income seniors, families, persons with disabilities and some people receiving income assistance pay their rent.

To be eligible, you must not be receiving

• Employment and Income Assistance Program

Rent Supplement Program

This program helps low- and moderate-income families, seniors, and persons with disabilities obtain affordable, adequate, and suitable housing.

School Tax Assistance for Tenants 55 Plus

This program provides school tax assistance for low- and moderate- income tenants and homeowners (aged 55 and over).
