This program assists First Nation members who have functional limitations due to age, health problems or a disability, in maintaining their independence and living in a safe and healthy environment.

Aboriginal Training Program in Museum Practices

This program provides Aboriginal people with professional and technical training in museum practices, as well as internship opportunities at the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

Legal Studies for Aboriginal People Program

This program provides bursaries to Métis and non-status Indians who wish to attend law school.

Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) On-Reserve

This program provides funding to First Nation councils and members so that they can repair on-reserve housing that does not meet minimum federal health and safety standards, or make homes accessible to persons with disabilities.

Non-Insured Health Program (NIHB) for First Nations and Inuit

This program provides provides registered Indians and recognized Inuit and Innu with a wide range of health benefits.

Post-Secondary Student Support Program (PSSSP)

This program provides financial assistance to Status Indian and Inuit students who are enrolled in eligible post-secondary programs, which includes: community college and CEGEP diploma or certificate programs; undergraduate programs; and advanced or professional degree programs.

Aboriginal Banking

This program offers financial products and consulting services to Aboriginal entrepreneurs to assist them with business start-up, financial planning, business plan development, and market and product development.

Canadian Forces Aboriginal Entry Program

This program aims to facilitate the selection and enrolment of Aboriginal people who are interested in full-time employment in the Canadian Forces.

Growth Capital for Aboriginal Business program

BDC's specialized financing increases access to capital for Aboriginal entrepreneurs wanting to expand an existing business or start a new one, on or off a reserve in Canada.

Decedent Estates Program

The Decedent Estates Program provides for the administration of the estates of deceased First Nation individuals who were ordinarily residents on a reserve before their death.

The Loan Insurance Program On-Reserve with Ministerial Loan Guarantee

The On-Reserve Loan Insurance program provides insurance on loans granted by approved lenders for the purchase, construction, renovation or refinancing of single-family homes or multiple rental housing on reserves.

University College Entrance Preparation Program (UCEPP)

This program is intended to provide financial assistance to Status Indian and Inuit students enrolled in university or college entrance programs to help them achieve the academic level required to enter degree or diploma programs.

International Aboriginal Youth Internships Initiative

The International Aboriginal Youth Internships (IAYI) initiative provides opportunities for Aboriginal youth to participate in international internships in developing countries.

Aboriginal Leadership Opportunity Year (ALOY)

The Aboriginal Leadership Opportunity Year (ALOY) is a one-year program offered through the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC). It is a highly positive, productive educational and leadership experience for Aboriginal youth. You have the opportunity to develop an individual learning plan comprised of non-credit preparatory courses with individual or small group tutorials and first-year university courses. The ALOY program will include sports, field trips, leadership development, military training and cultural support activities.

Aboriginal Head Start On Reserve

The Aboriginal Head Start On Reserve Program funds activities that support early intervention strategies to address the learning and developmental needs of young children living in First Nations communities. The goal is to support early child development strategies that are designed and controlled by communities.

Undergraduate Student Research Awards Program

Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) are meant to stimulate your interest in research in the natural sciences and engineering. They are also meant to encourage you to undertake graduate studies and pursue a research career in these fields. If you would like to gain research work experience that complements your studies in an academic setting, these awards can provide you with financial support through your host university. NSERC encourages qualified Aboriginal students to apply to this program.

Housing Internship Initiative for First Nations and Inuit Youth (HIIFNIY)

This youth employment initiative provides work experience and on-the-job training for First Nations and Inuit youth to assist them in pursuing long-term employment in the housing industry. Housing Internships are available to First Nations and Inuit youth who have an eligible sponsor. The key requirement for this program is that the work experience and on-the-job training must be related to housing activities, such as but not limited to: housing administration, construction, renovation, maintenance and client counseling.

First Nations and Inuit Summer Work Experience Program

The First Nations and Inuit Summer Work Experience Program provides youth with opportunities for summer employment, so that they can gain work experience, and develop or enhance essential employability skills—the critical skills needed in the workplace, such as communication, problem-solving and teamwork. In addition, these summer work placements allow youth to learn about career options and to earn income that may contribute to university or college education.

Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program

The Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program provides mental health and emotional support services to former Indian Residential School students and their families before, during and after their participation in Settlement Agreement processes, including the Common Experience Payments and the Independent Assessment Process, and those participating in Truth and Reconciliation Commission events and Commemoration activities.

Summer Training Programs

The Canadian Forces offers three Summer Training Programs that combine military lifestyle with cultural awareness: Bold Eagle, Raven and Black Bear. These six-week long programs give you a taste of military training with the option - but no commitment - to join the Canadian Forces. The training is based on the Army Reserve Basic Military Qualification and is taught by military instructors. Subjects include General Military Knowledge, Weapons Handling, Navigation, First Aid, Drill, and Survival Skills.

Income Assistance Program

This program provides funding to First Nation communities to help their eligible members meet basic needs, such as food, clothing and shelter.

Aboriginal Head Start in Urban and Northern Communities

The Aboriginal Head Start in Urban and Northern Communities Program is a community-based children's program delivered by the Public Health Agency of Canada. It focuses on early childhood development for First Nations, Inuit and Métis children and their families living off-reserve.

Elementary/Secondary Education Program

This program provides access for First Nations students to elementary or secondary schools, or services.
